Online Video to animated AVIF converter

This free online video to AVIF converter lets you turn MP4, WebM, AVI, MOV, FLV, MKV, and other popular video formats into animated AVIF (AVIFS) images. Upload a video from your computer or phone, select the part you want to convert, adjust settings, and download the result.

Why use AVIF instead of GIF?

AVIF is a modern image format based on the AV1 video codec. Compared to the classic GIF format, animated AVIF images offer significantly smaller file sizes and better visual quality. AVIF also supports partial (alpha channel) transparency, millions of colors (vs. GIF's 256-color limit), and a customizable loop count. This makes it an excellent choice for short animations, reaction images, memes, and any content where you want small size without sacrificing quality.

How to convert video to AVIF

  1. Upload your video file (MP4, WebM, AVI, MOV, MKV, FLV, OGV, M4V, 3GP, and more).
  2. Use the video player to find the exact start and end times for the part you want to convert. Click "Use current position" to set them precisely.
  3. Choose the output resolution, frame rate, and quality level.
  4. Optionally crop the video or change its aspect ratio.
  5. Click "Convert to AVIF!" and download your animated AVIF image.

If you leave the start and end times empty, the converter will process the first five seconds of your video.

Tips for best results

  • Frame rate (FPS): Higher frame rates produce smoother animation but increase file size and processing time.
  • Quality: The quality slider (0-100) controls the compression level. Higher values preserve more detail, lower values produce smaller files.
  • Resolution: Reducing the output size significantly lowers the file size. Choose a smaller resolution if you don't need the full original dimensions.
  • Loop count: Set to 0 for infinite looping, or enter a specific number to control how many times the animation repeats before stopping.
