Free Online Animated SVG to GIF Converter

Convert animated SVG files to GIF format with this free online tool. Our converter renders SVG animations in a real browser engine, capturing every frame of your animation and assembling them into a high-quality animated GIF. It supports all types of SVG animations including SMIL, CSS keyframes, and JavaScript-driven animations.

What Is an Animated SVG?

SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) supports built-in animation through several methods: SMIL animations using elements like <animate> and <animateTransform>, CSS animations with @keyframes, and JavaScript animations. While animated SVGs look great on the web, they aren't supported everywhere. Converting to GIF gives you universal compatibility – GIFs work in emails, messaging apps, social media, presentations, and any platform that supports images.

How to Convert Animated SVG to GIF

  1. Upload your SVG file – Select an animated SVG from your device or paste a URL.
  2. Set output options – Adjust width, height, frame rate, and animation duration as needed.
  3. Click "Convert to GIF!" – The animation is rendered frame-by-frame and assembled into a GIF.
  4. Download the GIF – Save the animated GIF to your device.

Tips for Best Results

  • Duration – For SMIL animations, duration is auto-detected. For CSS or JavaScript animations, enter the duration manually.
  • Frame rate – 10 FPS works well for most animations. Increase for smoother motion (up to 30 FPS).
  • Dimensions – Output size defaults to the SVG's native dimensions. You can override both width and height (max 2000px).
  • File size – Higher FPS and longer durations produce larger GIF files. If your GIF is too large, try our GIF optimizer.
