Extract Columns from CSV & Delimited Text Tables

When working with spreadsheet exports, web scraping outputs, database dumps, or server logs, you often only need a single field — such as email addresses, user IDs, prices, or timestamps. The Extract Column tool parses your structured data directly in your browser, pulling out only the columns you need without opening heavy spreadsheet applications.

Supported Column Formats & Features

  • Comma-Separated Values (CSV): Extracts fields from standard comma-delimited tables with smart handling for quoted strings containing commas.
  • Tab-Separated Values (TSV): Parses tab-delimited exports frequently produced by database queries and copy-pasted Excel cells.
  • Pipe, Semicolon, Colon, or Custom Delimiters: Handles server logs (such as Apache/Nginx combined access logs, /etc/passwd files with colon separators, or Markdown tables with pipe dividers).
  • Multiple Column Extraction: Specify individual columns or ranges (e.g. 1, 3 or 1-3) to extract multiple fields simultaneously into a newly structured table.
  • Negative Indexing Support: Use -1 to quickly grab the last column of every row, or -2 for the second-to-last column, regardless of how many columns each row contains.

Typical Real-World Use Cases

  • Lead Generation & Contact Lists: Extract just the "Email" or "Phone Number" column from customer registration tables.
  • Server Log Auditing: Extract client IP addresses from web server logs to analyze traffic spikes or configure firewall blocklists.
  • Data Reformatting: Reorder or isolate columns before converting files into SQL insert scripts or JSON arrays.
